This hour long webinar will begin by guiding participants through an overview of what tools (legal databases) are available, how to judge which source is best for which query and how to assess the value of what you find.
Moving into practical examples, the webinar will take a number of scenarios from different practice areas and work through how best to approach the problem with a research strategy – identification of the issue, locating resources and assessing relevance. The session will flag up potential pitfalls and also give some ideas about ways in which to keep your knowledge updated, including setting up alerts.
We'll look briefly at how to best present the results of your findings and keep a record of your research trail.
This session seeks to address the five points covered in B2 of the Competence Statement and is linked to the BIALL Information Literacy Statement around Legal Research.
