The Solicitors Regulation Authority has announced that its new Standards and Regulations, which will replace the current Handbook, will not come into force until late November. Its more recent focus has been on warnings about anti-money laundering compliance, announcing plans to monitor compliance more actively and writing to 400 firms to ask what steps they have taken in this regard. Tough penalties are threatened for those who are thought to have failed to meet the required standard. This webinar examines why the SRA is taking such a tough stance on this issue and explains the most important steps that must have been taken to meet the requirements.
The webinar also examines the Law Society’s imminent changes to the Conveyancing Quality Scheme. From 1 May 2019 a number of new measures will need to be in place to ensure continued compliance with the Scheme’s Core Practice Management Standards. The webinar looks at the main steps that firms will need to have taken as they renew their current membership or face one of the on-site inspections that are also now planned.
