Stephen Tupper the sole proprietor of TupperS Law, focuses his time on commercial, competition and regulatory law. He has been practicing law for more than 35 years, including working in New York, Washington D.C. and in Brussels (the latter for 10 years). Stephen has handled a range of competition law and merger control cases/filings and has particular experience in the energy, consumer goods, distribution arrangements, internet selling, utilities, shipping and chemical sectors.
TupperS Law won the Competition Team of the Year at the 2017 British Legal Awards ahead of other short-listed firms which included Slaughter & May, Allen & Overy, Sullivan & Cromwell, et al.
His significant recent cases include assisting Socrates Training in its successful 2017 damages tying/dominance claim against the Law Society of England and Wales which was the first ever action to be decided by the Competition Appeal Tribunal (“CAT”) under its so-called accelerated procedure and advised on an appeal to the CAT on behalf of the modelling agencies accused in 2016 of price fixing by the Competition and Markets Authority (“CMA”). On a broader front he assisted a satellite services operator in two actions challenging the legality of EU legislation before European courts, handled the first-ever full application for leniency in the UK in a major construction industry cartel, and has been a regular advocate for water supply companies before the CMA and the CAT.
