Commercial Property is important to the national economy and as a source of work for law firms. In England and Wales the value of the property held by the commercial property sector is £1,662bn, which amounts to 20% of the national wealth. It directly employs 2,000,000 people, or about 6.8% of the workforce. According to the British Property Federation, the annual amount of rent collected is £26bn. In any year there are 92,000 commercial property deals with a value of £7bn yielding £1.76bn of tax.
Good Commercial Property lawyers are in great demand at the moment, so it is an excellent area of law to become involved with. It is an area of law that will be both challenging and rewarding to you, as it is diverse and constantly changing. Most of all, you have to understand the property market, understand your clients needs and objectives, and understand the physical aspects of the property you are dealing with.
