This webinar provides an overview of sporting injury claims in the law of tort and considers both the potential causes of action such injuries may engender, and who may be liable in such claims.
We will look at common types of sporting injuries, with consideration of participants, officials and spectators as potential claimants. We will also consider common defences to such claims, with a particular emphasis on the defence of volenti (consent).
Finally, we will look at potential defendants, considering the liability of both sporting bodies and individuals. The webinar will include practical examples of how the law in this area will apply, and highlight recent case law in the area.
It will include:
Potential claimants who may be injured in a sporting context
A review of the relevant statutory and common law
The defences available
A sporting body’s liability including a review of relevant law and case law
Potential personal liability including a review of the relevant regulations and case law
