The requirements of lenders are becoming ever more burdensome and despite the UK Finance Mortgage Lenders' Handbook supposedly streamlining the process, many mortgage offers are becoming increasingly diverse. The lenders are also frequently changing their position on issues such as acceptable residue on leases and ground rent provisions in long leases. This makes mortgages a risk area for busy conveyancers as it would be easy to miss a key issue, which could lead to a delay in the release of the mortgage funds, or worse, withdrawal of the mortgage offer.
