This webinar will allow the practitioner to more effectively comply with the SRA Statement of Solicitor Competence when taking instructions from, acting for and meeting the needs of vulnerable clients.
It will help solicitors, counsel and legal executives of all levels, but particularly those who do not regularly work in the fields of mental health law or social welfare law, or those who act as an attorney under a Lasting Power of Attorney, to properly identify and act for vulnerable clients.
We will consider the responsibilities that a practitioner has towards vulnerable clients and how, in meeting those responsibilities, they can benefit themselves, their practice and the client.

A review of the Law Society Practice Notes and SRA Guidance and Principles in this area
A consideration of the Lord Chancellor’s Department’s wide-ranging definition of a vulnerable adult
The difference between clients who have the capacity to instruct and those who do not
A discussion as to what needs to be considered by all practices when making reasonable adjustments to their premises and procedures in order to comply with their obligations under the Equality Act 2000 and the SRA Statement of Solicitor Competence
