This is a half-day course for candidates preparing to take the Law Society Immigration and Asylum Accreditation exams for full and interim accreditation.
The exams contain a compulsory drafting question, worth 24 marks, and for which candidates must score a pass (50%). Candidates who fail the drafting will fail the whole exam, regardless of the overall mark received.
The course materials will contain drafting guidance and document templates (which may not be taken into the exam).
Candidates will revise the key elements of drafting including:-
• Document structure
• Targeted and appropriate vocabulary
• Grammar and sentence construction
Candidates for the Casework Assistant exam will have the opportunity to look at a range of letters, including advice letters to client and letters making representations to the Home Office, and to practise drafting.
