Course Acting for a Buyer on a New Build: Pitfalls and Tips

Overview


When you’re advising a buyer of a new build, you will undoubtedly be supplied with a mountain of paperwork from the developer – particularly if the property is part of a multi-plot development.

Developers typically impose deadlines by which exchange must take place, and clients have usually paid reservation deposits and are keen to meet the deadline. But as the legal adviser, you will have many legal and practical issues to consider, including planning and community infrastructure levy (CIL) issues, adoption of roads and section 106 agreements, and important matters of title.
