The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has announced plans to introduce its revised Handbook in April 2019. The Code of Conduct will be split into two, for practices and individual solicitors respectively. The main requirements in the current Code will not change greatly but it will be important to consider how compliance with the new regime will be enforced, and how the firm can ensure that its personnel are complying with their obligations. The new Codes have also been considerably shortened in length, by the removal of the guidance indicative behaviours, so what are the areas of potential non-compliance and how should firms address them? So far as the revised accounts rules are concerned most will welcome the greater flexibility of the new requirements but this might again risk complacency.
In this LIVE broadcast at 1pm on Wednesday 16 January, we will examine the main changes and consider the risk points that will still be part of the new regime. You will have the opportunity to ask questions of our compliance expert, Matt Moore.
