It examines recent developments and topical issues relating to pensions including the fundamentals of pension schemes trends in pension provision, regulation and taxation of pensions and tricky areas such as benefit packages contracting out and the relationship with TUPE including:

- The Pensions Regulator: its "moral hazard" powers; seeking clearance
- The Pension Protection Fund: levies, using contingent assets
- Benefit design and the tax regime: Finance Act 2004 allowances and HMRC limits etc
- Pensions as part of the benefits package: changing benefits; contractual promises; salary sacrifice; discrimination
