Since the Trade Marks Act 1994, registration of a trade mark for goods or services has become one of the most efficient and cost effective methods of promoting and protecting a trading activity.
The Course will consider the following topical areas:
- The effect of changes to the Trade Marks Rules in 2007 and 2008
- The influence of OHIM decisions on trade mark law in the UK
- Oppositions – the best tactics in securing and protecting your trade marks
- What constitutes a “trade mark” in 2008?
- Update on what constitutes “use”
- “Domain Kiting” and an update on domain name registrations and management
- Comparative advertising: the latest cases reviewed
The Course will incorporate short case studies for workshop discussion.
