Achieving the Mandatory Financial Outcomes under the New SRA Code

The new SRA Code which came into effect on 6 October 2011 sets out mandatory financial outcomes which every law firm must achieve, including requirements to maintain systems and controls for actively monitoring a firm's financial stability and viability, as well as promptly notifying the SRA of serious financial difficulty. The need for effective financial management not only now makes for good business sense but in future will be a key compliance requirement.

This programme is particularly designed to assist COLPs and COFAs and includes an in-depth examination of:

  • The key financial management issues for law firms which will enable them to build greater profitability and enhanced cash flow; and
  • Considers how effective financial management can be made an integral part of the compliance obligations of law firms enabling them to demonstrate achievement of the financial outcomes introduced under the new SRA Code.
The programme will cover:
  • Identifying your priority financial challenges;
  • Understanding the key financial information you will need to not only financially manage a law firm effectively and profitably - but also how to do so compliantly;
  • Maximising your cash flow - cutting edge techniques for cash management including how to construct cash generation plans to build financial viability;
  • Building profitability and PEP: how to put together a realistic profit improvement plan to enable you to retain and recruit the best, and to generate the necessary resource to help you develop your firm;
  • Making the link between financial performance and effective management of partners' compliance responsibilities, including the use of reward structures;
  • Constructing financial action plans to build financial stability and viability
