  Trust and Estate Accounts - Getting Them Right (6 hours)

This practical course will assist you in the preparation of Estate and Trust Accounts. Many private client practitioners have no specific training in this and, as a result, struggle to prepare detailed Accounts for their clients, causing avoidable and unnecessary anxiety and delay.

The course will give all those attending the confidence to prepare comprehensive Estate and Trust Accounts efficiently. This will avoid outsourcing and thereby also improve profitability.

The course will cover:

  • * The importance of file management in the preparation of Accounts
  • The information you must obtain in order to prepare detailed Accounts
  • How to "set out" Accounts in a style that is easily understood by the lay client
  • How to easily reconcile or "balance" Accounts
  • Common mistakes and traps in the preparation of Accounts
Examples of taxable and non-taxable estates will be included.

Linda Pratt LLB (Hons) is a retired Non-Practising Solicitor and formerly a principal of her own elderly client practice. Linda is a member of the executive committee of the Law Society's Private Client Section and a founding member of Solicitors for the Elderly. Linda is both a practical and an experienced lecturer with 30 years experience of combining the daily handling of estates with the academic experience lecturing.
