This course looks at the particular requirements which apply to land transactions of charities, whether on acquisition, mortgage or disposal. There are a range of statutory obligations and many other possible constraints. It is suitable for all who advise charities or the parties who deal with them. The course covers the Charities Acts of 1993 and 2006 and the new consolidating legislation in the Charities Act 2011.

Jane Lonergan is a partner at Wilsons Solicitors LLP – one of the best known charity firms in the country acting for most national household name charities. Jane has extensive experience in a wide variety to high value complex transactions. Her clients include Help for Heroes and many military charities – largely because of Jane’s previous career as an Officer in the Army.
Francesca Quint who is a member of Radcliffe Chambers where she specialises in charities; she is recommended by both Legal 500 and Chambers guides as a leading junior for charity law. She worked at the Charity Commission until 1989, rising to Deputy Commissioner in 1984. Apart from editing the Charities volume of Butterworths’ Encyclopedia of Forms & Precedents and numerous articles, she is also one of the four editors of Charities: The Law & Practice (loose leaf, Sweet & Maxwell).
