This practical course is aimed at newly qualified solicitors, trainees, paralegals and support staff wishing to develop the necessary skills to assist them in either making the transition to fee earner, or developing the requisite knowledge to manage confidently their own Family Law caseload within a Department, with minimal supervision.

The course will be interactive and include

  • * Taking instructions
  • Identifying what is relevant and managing the case and your time effectively
  • Completing the relevant forms
- Divorce

- Legal aid

- Applications for financial orders/AR and private child law

  • * Navigating through the minefield of Case law and Procedure
  • Attending court and instructing Counsel
  • Good Practice suggestions
  • Concluding matters and getting paid

Stephen Parker is head of the Child Care Department at Greens LLP Birmingham. Stephen is a High Court Advocate (Civil) and an Accredited Specialist with Resolution. He is also a member of both the Law Society's Children and Advanced Family Law Panels and sits as a Deputy District Judge.
