This course provides a comprehensive overview and update on the law and procedure of compulsory purchase orders (CPOs), and aims to provide local authority lawyers and other professionals involved in this area with practical tools to avoid problems at public enquiries and challenges to CPOs.
The course will cover:
- Making a CPO - overview of the law, procedure and policy involved in the making of CPOs, together with a case law update
- Development Agreements - drafting points from the local authority perspective
- Demonstrating a compelling need in the public interest - lessons learnt from case studies
- Promoting CPOs in the context of public/private partnerships
