The aim of this popular course is to give those new to civil litigation as well as those returning after an absence confidence in making and responding to a wide variety of interim applications before a Court.
In the first half of the course, those attending will acquire an understanding of:
- How to make an interim application
- The rules relating to pre-action disclosure, summary judgment, strike out and setting aside judgment
- The range of interim remedies available under CPR Part 25 and how they can be used
- The importance of skeleton arguments during the hearing
- Costs and interim applications
- Practise identifying the correct interim remedy and procedure using a number of case study scenarios
During the second part of the course, delegates will practise their knowledge in role plays. Delegates will be expected to argue the case on behalf of the Claimant and Defendant. After which delegates should leave the day:
- Able to make and effectively present an interim application
- Understand the pitfalls and advantages of making an application
The course will be limited to 16 delegates to allow participation in the advocacy exercises.
