This course concentrates on advice which needs to be given to elderly clients in a variety of different transactions which are routinely encountered by conveyancers. It looks in particular at the changes brought by the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the new lasting powers of attorney regime and at the many potentially contentious issues which can arise within the context of families and property.

- Mental Capacity Act and the best interest principles
- MCA Code of Practice
- Equity release and other home income plans and how these can go wrong
- Challenges by family and pre-empting those challenges
- "Granny" annexes and sharing with Granny
- Implications of elderly relative going into a home and valuing a part share
- Sharing across generations
- Law Society Guidance
