The Charities Act of 2006 has brought with it the requirement that new, as well as existing charities need to pass a "public benefit" test. They need to show that their work benefits the public, therefore justifying the charitable status. This has raised compliance issues for a number of existing charities, particularly those that charge fees to users of their services.
This course will provide delegates with an understanding of the new public benefit requirements, and an insight into how the new guidance is being interpreted by charities and stakeholders of the charitable sector. This course will cover:
- The case for "Public Benefit"
- How the guidance has developed
- Key requirements relating to Public Benefit
- Trustees achieving, and reporting on "Public Benefit"
- Public Benefit - the future
