Designed to enhance the existing knowledge of those who support fee earners or members of conveyancing teams, this "hands on" course will test conveyancing skills at a practical level.
As part of the team acting on both the sale and purchase part of the transaction, you will perform all the usual conveyancing functions from beginning to end and be tested at key stages in the process by the completion of exercises based on multiple choice questions and group discussion led by the presenter. These discussions and exercises will test not only your ability to process the transaction but will also teach you to do so safely by ensuring compliance with Professional Rules and the Lenders' Handbook.
Working in teams, you will represent fictional buyers and sellers. Acting in the sale for the first part of the course, and for the purchaser in the second. Using the information given and the comprehensive collection of standard conveyancing documents, you will learn how to:
- Prepare contract documentation, including drafting special conditions to reflect the individual circumstances of each case
- Decide what additional searches and enquiries are relevant to the transaction
- Investigate title in both registered and unregistered land
- Access the registers of title at the Land Registry and learn how to make pre-completion searches
