This course and the workshop elements within it will give delegates the confidence and ability to properly advise clients on family-friendly rights including the practical implications of the law and ensure clients comply with family-friendly policies. In addition it looks ahead to the extended family-friendly rights expected in the near future.
- Maternity Rights: key legislation, health and safety and risk assessments, maternity leave and maternity pay, antenatal care, claiming pay back and sex discrimination
- Paternity Leave and Pay: the framework, eligibility and notification requirements, paternity pay and claiming pay back
- Adoption leave and Pay: what is adoption leave and when does it apply? Eligibility and evidence, length of leave and adoption pay
- Parental Leave: what is it? Company schemes, length of leave and eligibility, what records need to be kept
- Time off for Dependants: Definition of a dependent, what is an emergency? Notice and length of leave, records to be kept, how to advise clients if employees abuse this right
- Flexible Working Regulations 2002: What is flexible working? Likely changes employees will apply for, eligibility, application process, how you can legally refuse a request and appeal process
- Work and families Act 2006: Where are we now? How this is operating in practice and how to advise clients now and in the future
