Managers no longer really need pure information; the Internet provides that free of charge. They look to their lawyers for insight and leadership in running their businesses effectively without constantly fearing legal challenge, the costs of which they will see as ‘dead money’. This course is designed for lawyers who work closely with their employer clients, anticipating events, creating change and, most importantly, tangibly adding value to the management structure. It will focus mainly on guidance from case law, the ACAS Code of Practice and DTI, and will cover:
- Responding to hidden and complex grievances
- Dismissals under the ‘some other substantial reason’ test: pressure from clients to dismiss, personality clashes, attitude problems and conflicts of interest
- Introducing changes to contracts and other procedures
- Proactive management & avoiding constructive dismissals
