This course explores the practical and procedural aspects of handling and defending judicial review claims under CPR 54, as well as the substantive principles of public law which provide the grounds for challenge. The content is aimed at local authority and other public sector lawyers and officers, both those seeking to familiarise themselves with this area of law and practice, as well as those looking to consolidate and update their existing knowledge and experience. The course will also be suitable for those advising Registered Social Landlords facing judicial review and public law/human rights challenges, following recent case law developments in R (Weaver) v L&Q and Birmingham CC v Doherty.
