Aimed at representatives who have some experience of presenting cases in the Employment Tribunal. The course will concentrate on effective presentation and persuasive advocacy in the full merits hearing. It will be based on tailor-made case studies and realistic practical exercises, with delegate performance and personal feedback as a central element.

Areas covered will include:

  • * Examination-in-chief: how to present your own witnesses effectively
  • Cross-examination: challenging your opponent's witnesses
  • Re-examination: when and how to do it
  • Useful tools: preparing and using skeletons, chronologies, written submissions, schedules and counter-schedules of loss
  • Persuasive closing arguments
  • How to present or contest an application for costs


John Sprack is an experienced CPD trainer. He was formerly Reader at City Law School where he taught for 11 years on the Bar Course. He is the author of Employment Law and Practice (Sweet and Maxwell) and Guide to the Age Discrimination Regulations (Tottel)
