The course is aimed at solicitors either who litigate on behalf of tenants and/or landlords. With the rise in litigation over anti-social behaviour orders, Section 11 cases and a general move by Public Authorities and Housing Associations to force tenants to comply more strictly with the terms of their tenancy, this is an area of law which has an increasing importance and workload.

The course will cover:

  • * Possession for non-payment of rent
  • Possession for breach of covenants relating to a tenant's behaviour
  • Anti-social behaviour orders
  • Defences available to the tenant
  • Enforcement
  • Other remedies
  • Counterclaims for disrepair

Michael Paget is a practising Barrister with Garden Court Chambers where his main area of practice is Housing dealing with standard County Court actions, s.204 appeals, unlawful evictions, disrepair claims with personal injury elements and Right to Buy decisions. He appears in judicial review of interim accommodation and allocation decisions.
