Magistrates Court Qualification - IAA Course

Full Day - 6 Hours CPD

Designed to help you pass the preparation assessment this is a practical based course - relevant law and procedure aspects will be included relating to a range of applications in the magistrates court.

The principle focus will be on:

• The assessment criteria for the client interview and the assessment criteria for the advocacy element* Conducting a client interview - practical exercises and review * Conducting advocacy from written materials - practical exercises * Applying the advocacy testing criteria - a first hand experience * Dealing with judicial interventions effectively.

Matthew Hickling 
is an experienced litigator and advocate,now non-practising. He is a consultant and trainer not only in legal skills but also in legal practice and law updates. Formerly a Detective Inspector in the police before coming into Law, Matthew is now the lead assessor and examiner for CLT in the Criminal Litigation Accreditation Scheme (CLAS).

Richard Stone 
Richard Stone (LLB Hons) is a Solicitor and has specialised in Criminal law for over 10 years. Formerly a partner with Belshaw Solicitors in Stockport he is now a freelance Duty Solicitor and Court Advocate. He is an experienced legal trainer and lectures extensively on a number of Criminal law and Advocacy training courses. He is also a member of CLT's PSR and CLAS Assessment Board as an assessor.
