Public Child Law: An Introduction

Course Overview Seminar

Public Child Law is a particularly technical and complex area in which to work. The course will enable you to understand this difficult area of law to and to represent clients effectively. The course will provide those who are new to the area of Public Child Law with the insight to handle these emotive cases. It is presumed that the delegate will already have attended the Private Child Law: An Introduction course or have a working knowledge of this area.

The topics covered will be enhanced by practical examples and will include:

  • The meaning of significant harm and the threshold criteria
  • Emergency protection orders
  • Care and supervision orders
  • Contact to a child in care
  • Exclusion orders
  • The role of the children's guardian
  • Termination or variation of orders
  • Public funding
