Many people wish to remain living in their own home for as long as possible. This is the first of three linked webinars. It will cover:

  • the different systems for care assessments and the eligibility for services and support funded by local authorities and the NHS
  • the charging system for care home
  • how self-directed support, direct payments and personalised care fit within current legislation and best practice
  • how this system may change, subject to the Government's response to the Law Commission's 2011 social care legislation inquiry.
  • the range of services and other support available from private, voluntary and statutory sources including alternative housing options, adaptations to the home, engaging agency staff and employing Personal Assistants, the emerging role of 'microproviders', utilising 'mainstream' services, and emergency and crisis options.
