Scheme Details
Accredited Caseworker – Level 1
These assessments are set in accordance with the SRA’s Written Standards for this level.
- Probationary Assessment - Multiple Choice Test (MCT)
Candidates will be required to answer multiple choice questions in timed examination conditions. The time allowed for this assessment is 1½ hours.
- Assessment 1 - Written Examination
Candidates will be required to answer questions in timed examination conditions. The time allowed for this examination is 2 hours plus 30 minutes reading time.
- Assessment 2 - Drafting Assessment
This assessment will test candidates’ drafting skills and will be 1½ hours long plus 30 minutes reading time.
- Assessment 3 - Client Interview
The assessment will be assessed live and will be recorded for marking and moderation purposes. The time allowed for this assessment is 15 minutes.

Accredited Caseworker – Level 2
These assessments are set in accordance with the SRA’s Written Standards for this level.
- Assessment 1 - Written Examination
Candidates will be required to answer questions in timed examination conditions. The time allowed for this examination is 2½ hours plus 30 minutes reading time.
The first part of the paper has three compulsory questions on Asylum, Immigration and EU Law. The second part of the paper allows Candidates to answer a question from one of the following:
(a) Immigration law (non business) and practice
(b) Asylum law and practice
(c) Managed migration (business) law and practice
Candidates who carry out publicly funded work must take either option (a) or option (b). Candidates must not attempt option (c) if they undertake publicly funded work.
- Assessment 2 - Drafting Assessment
This assessment primarily tests drafting skills, but also contains questions dealing with professional ethics.
Candidates will be required to answer questions in timed examination conditions. The time allowed for this assessment is 2½ hours plus 45 minutes reading time.
- Assessment 3 - Client Interview
The assessment will be assessed live and will be video recorded for moderation purposes. The time allowed for this assessment is 15 minutes.

Advanced Caseworker

Supervisor Level
- One Assessment - Timed Assessment
This assessment will test candidates on supervisory skills, it is not a test of legal knowledge. The assessment will require candidates to answer questions based on the review of case studies and file reviews in timed examination conditions. The time allowed for this assessment is 3 hours plus 45 minutes reading time.
