Who should take the Criminal Litigation Accreditation Scheme?


If you are a solicitor or a barrister and you wish to conduct duty solicitor work, to be included on the duty solicitor scheme for Police Stations and Magistrates’ Courts you are required by the LSC to successfully undertake the Criminal Litigation Accreditation Scheme.


What’s involved?


Step 1 - Register with CLT by completing our registration form.


Step 2 - Complete the Police Station Qualification (PSQ), or the Police Station Representatives Accreditation Scheme.

  • Assessment 1 - The PSQ Portfolio
  • Assessment 2 - The Critical Incidents Test (CIT)

Step 3 - Complete the Magistrates’ Court Qualification (MCQ)

  • Assessment 1 - The MCQ Portfolio
  • Assessment 2 - The Interview and Advocacy Test (IAA)

Step 4 - After successful completion of steps 2 and 3, you may apply to the SRA for Stage 1 membership of CLAS


Step 5 - Once in receipt of Stage 1 membership you may if you wish apply to an LSC regional office for inclusion on one or more duty solicitor schemes
