Health and Safety Law: An Introduction

This course provides an overview of and refresher on the basic principles of health and safety law and the main legislation. It will be delivered in an interactive manner and will cover:

  • The history of health and safety at work
  • The health and safety at work etc Act 1974
  • The "six-pack" regulations and other fundamental regulations
  • Risk assessment
  • Health and Safety enforcing authorities
  • The powers of Inspectors

Jon Payne before being called to the Bar, Jon was an Environment and Licensing Manager for a local authority. Over his 18 years working in local government, he has been involved in a wide variety of enforcement matters. He currently works as a solicitor and non-practising Barrister for Horsey Lightly Fynn Solicitors and has a nationwide practice specialising primarily in Licensing, Safety, Health and Pollution regulatory law.
